From Series: Locke and Key
The Locke family has moved across the country to their father’s childhood home after his traumatic murder. The youngest, Bode, is the first to discover a magic key hidden within the house. The key, allows a person to walk through the door and become a ghost, leaving their dead body behind. When the user is done they can return to the dead body and come back to life.
Bode wants to cheer up his siblings and offers to show them how to become ghosts but they don’t believe him. Honestly, they find the whole suggestion pretty creepy. While sulking about this, Bode discovers a voice coming from the well. Again he tries to show his siblings but they believe he has only heard his own echo.
After a few visits with the voice, who has started referring to herself as Bode’s Echo, Bode learns more about the keys and the house. There are apparently many of them, all with different powers. The Echo tells him she is stuck in the well because she cannot pass through the door, but Bode wants to find a loop hole for freeing her.
When Bode delivers a mirror and scissors to the Echo, her grotesque reflection in the mirror shows. She isn’t being honest about why she’s in that well. To further throw suspicions on her, Mr. Locke’s murderer Sam Lesser receives a magical message from his jail cell. A mirror and scissors have shown up in his sink along with instructions on how to use them to escape.
What I Learned From This Comic:
Never blindly trust someone just because they live in a well.
